Work, gym (or yoga), home. That’s pretty much my routine Monday through Friday, and it works for me. Here’s the thing—if I don’t head to the gym straight from the office, I won’t make it at all. I’ll be Netflix-ing and bubble bath-ing instead. Since I’m working out after a long day at the office, I usually need a snack to give me the energy to power through (or at least trudge through) my workout. Here are a few staples that you can always find in my gym bag.
Nut butter packets
Who doesn’t love nut butter? And if you can’t have nuts, there are tons of equally delicious seed butters . These keep me full until I get home for dinner and are so convenient to throw in my gym bag. Two of my favorites are Justin’s Maple Almond Butter and Wild Friends Vanilla Espresso Almond Butter.
Green juice + a handful of nuts
This combo leaves me feeling energized enough to run a marathon (just kidding, more like 3 miles, but you get the point). I love organicgirl’s Hint of Mint because it has a little green tea for a caffeine boost.
Homemade trail mix
It’s so easy to make, you’ll wonder why you ever bought it. My favorite combination? Dang Coconut Chips, lightly salted almonds and Enjoy Life Foods Dark Chocolate Chips (everyone needs a little chocolate now and then).
