The leaves have turned, the temperatures have dropped and autumn is in full gear. The Reveal team has swapped their summer dresses for sweaters, scarves and boots – and we’re also swapping some of our smoothies and chilled snacks for warmer, more savory dishes.
Since we know that heavy comfort foods are in abundance during these chilly months, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite healthy fall recipes – all featuring ingredients from the health-focused, natural brands we love.
If you’re still on the savory squash side of the fence, this recipe might just be the one that coaxes you over to the sweet side (it’s nice over here, promise). This breakfast bowl is overflowing with Siggi’s thick, creamy skyr and topped with a dollop of peanut butter – serving up a whopping 29 grams of protein per serving, and enough healthy fats to keep you satiated until lunchtime.
I don’t personally follow a gluten-free diet, but I can’t say no to a pasta that replaces empty carbs with plant-based protein and fiber – which Banza does, and does well. This Butternut Squash Alfredo is also vegan, achieving the melty cheese factor found in traditional alfredo by substituting blended butternut squash, almond milk and nutritional yeast. You can leave that processed Kraft mac & cheese on the shelf.
Once the cold weather rolls in, a warm bowl of curry packed with veggies and immunity-boosting garlic and ginger is my go-to. Vital Proteins kicks it up a notch in this Ginger Chicken Curry with the addition of their Bone Broth Collagen, resulting in a rich and savory dish that also supplements your skin, joint, gut and bone health.
Ever since the first time I fatefully stumbled upon Kodiak Power Cakes mix at Target, I’ve used it for everything. You think I’m joking, but I mean it. Pancakes, pizzas, muffins, cookies, tortillas, breading – everything. It’s so versatile, plus it lives up to its name, packing a powerful 10 grams of protein per 100% whole grain serving. As much as I love a good pie crust, these Mini Turkey Pot Pies with their crumbly Power Cakes topping might just make it into my regular dinner rotation.
There’s nothing I love more during the fall than a veggie-packed, broth based soup. They’re easy to throw together, difficult to mess up and they feed you for a week. This Tortellini Soup features organicgirl Supergreens! – a mixture of chard, bok choy, arugula and spinach. One pot and twenty minutes are all you need to whip up this hearty, healthy soup.
I’ve been a fan of Califia Farms ever since I jumped on the almond milk bandwagon. Their nut milks feature refreshingly short ingredient lists (and no carrageenan!), and you can taste the difference in quality. This vegan Black Bean and Mango Soup uses their Organic Homestyle Coconut Milk for a sweet and creamy kick.
In my family, green bean casserole is a staple dish during the holidays, but the sodium-dense cream-of-whatever soup often featured in recipes has made me shy away from making it on my own. This recipe from Pacific Foods uses all real ingredients, including their Unsalted Organic Chicken Stock. While I wouldn’t call it light (because what’s green bean casserole without the fried onions, am I right?), this is definitely a healthier and less processed spin on the holiday classic.
From snacks to baking mixes, Enjoy Life Foods offers a variety of products, all free of the eight most common allergens: wheat/gluten, dairy, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, soy, fish and shellfish. Combine that with the autumn flavors of butternut squash and maple, and combine THAT with pizza, and you’ve got the perfect fall Friday night meal.
I am certifiably obsessed with Hilary’s products – when they call their veggie burger the “World’s Best,” they mean it. I generally enjoy them on their own with just a little sriracha, but this Pumpkin Penne is a game changer. Plus, you didn’t think I’d make it through this list without at least ONE pumpkin recipe, did you? Which brings me to the next recipe…
I’m a firm believer that there’s a taco for every season, every month, every day. These Pumpkin Black Bean tacos are the perfect seasonal dish, and even better– the Cilantro Lime Sauce sneaks in Navitas Organics Daily Superfood Detox Boost for an extra healthy kick.
Any past roommate of mine will tell you – I’m obsessed with condiments, so it’s no surprise that I am absolutely head-over-heels for Sir Kensington’s. In addition to killer ketchup and mustard, they also sell Fabanaise – vegan mayonnaise made out of chickpea water. So cool! This recipe is an autumn-appropriate take on potato salad, combining a vegan dijonnaise sauce with warm roasted potatoes and savory herbs for the perfect fall side dish.
