5 Non-Profits to Support on Earth Day

One of the most effective ways we can make a difference is by “voting” with our dollars. On Earth Day, here are a few organizations you can support to make an environmental impact.

The Sierra Club is the nation’s largest grassroots environmental organization with successes ranging from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.

Algalita Marine Research Foundation is committed to solving the plastic pollution crisis in our oceans through research and education (plus, they have this amazing science kit for middle schoolers).

Surfrider Foundation is a community of everyday people passionate about protecting our oceans.

Environmental Working Group  (EWG) helps consumers make healthier choices and live in a healthier environment, from understanding what’s in your favorite lotion to what’s in your drinking water. It’s our go-to place to learn about what’s really in the products we buy.

Union of Concerned Scientists develops and implements solutions to overcome our planet’s most pressing problems—from combating global warming to developing sustainable ways to feed, power, and transport ourselves. Individuals fund their work, not the government or corporations, which preserves independence and integrity.
