Spring’s arrival signifies a shift in style that I’m welcoming with the same vigor most people feel about fall. For me, less is more and I’m ready to shed some layers and feel warm. This year, I’m going to do it differently though. My recent Hawaii experience paired with continued news about the health of our ocean is driving me to do so many things differently this year, including shopping.
For this season, I’m going to focus on a few pieces I can get a lot of use out of that are largely made from cotton or other fabric, instead of polyester, which according to this article is polluting our ocean at alarming rates.
With a little diligent research, it turns out it’s not that hard to make better choices. Whohoo!
For handbags, I tend to carry the same one for a long time, like 10 years. But I have many friends who find this a quick and fun way to freshen up their wardrobe. For them, this Mar Y Sol crossbody made from raffia is perfect. I like this colorful clutch too.
So many people in my life love these Eileen Fisher shoes because they are made well, comfortable and lasting. I also discovered these Earth perforated booties, which could be perfect for work and evening, and they claim to combine comfort with a carbon-neutral footprint.
This denim jacket will become my every day staple. In thinking about stores like H&M, we have so much power to shift how they produce clothes by simply shifting our purchases to the Conscious line.
I love discovering these new brands and fashion items. Do you have any favorites?
